Storage
If you have your factions and propheses games linked...why cant you access the extra storage space in propheses? I would be ok with it if you could go to the guild hall with a propheses created character and be able to access the extra storage but you can. Only Factions characters can access the extra storage. This makes no sense,....the extra storage should be accessable for both campains if you have them linked

I know in some low maps you don't see the extra storage but they do show up later in prophecies as you get higher up.
Although if you don't have factions you can't get it and that is not fair but that's one of anet's many tricks to get you to buy factions. |

I don't see that it's a big deal. There are many ways that they could have
implimented it, but this is the way they went. It takes all of three minutes to get your characters over to KC to access it. Shouldn't be a problem for any reasonable person. If you're trying to transfer materials to low level Prophecies characters it still only takes a minute. Do we have to second guess Anet on everything? |

i am not second guessing Anet..im just pointing out that it makes no sense to limit this feature in any form. Even at low levels you still get stuff you wanna save and the materal storage should be available to all in both campains after leaving the trainig areas

accessing your storage
Ruby, If you have your Prophecies and Factions accounts merged, then all of your characters can access the expanded storage. The trick is that characters created in Tyria must go to Kaineng Center to see the Storage Representative to set up the account. He is only located there and at the Monastery. Once the account is set up through him, it will appear at all of the storage agents thoughout the game.
There is a major brew-ha-ha going on right now among players who side with ANET(insisting in keeping it a `Factions Only` benefit) and those that want the expanded storage to be available to all chapters. Contrary to the simple fact that Alex Weeks, an game representative, assured the community that `storage` upgrades would be offered free to all players regardless of Chapter(s) purchased, Gaile Gray, a GM, states that the storage upgrade is not a core function and therefore is a Factions specific upgrade. It is, I am afraid, a sorry state of affairs for a company to have to go back on the word of their representatives because they do not have the fortitute to stand up and admit that they may have made a mistake and misrepresented themselves or their intentions. It is even more woeful that we players find the need to defend them without first taking the time to at least attempt to research the topic. |

I was under the impression they'd be free. And that once accessed once would remain unlocked for all characters (linked to Factions). -shrug-

Nope, same concept as purchasing access to your storage account on every new character you make in Tyria, once you leave pre-searing. It's not that big a deal, just 50 gold, easy to come by.

Obviously they can't let your new Tyrian characters access it because they would have to put the NPC in the Prophecies towns, and I'm sure they don't want to code it to check and see if you have Factions linked or not :/ |

Storage Upgrade Access
"If you have your factions and propheses games linked...why cant you access the extra storage space in propheses? "
You can access it for all characters in all places with Xunlai. However before a specific character (Tyrian or Canthan) can access the additional storage, that character has to upgrade his/her storage account with 50 gold. This transaction is only available in Cantha. Hence a Tyrian Character has to be able to get to Lions Arch (to travel to Cantha) before this storage access is available to that specific character. |

Ok when Weeks said that Storage update would be free, then Gaile had no right to cut the grass under her collegue and change that.
It's not that I dislike the storage update that I am saying that but if the update is said free and available to all chapters ... doesn't that mean CORE ? I would like the explanation from Gaile and Alex, on why she overrode Alex's promise, that it would be free and available to all chapter past present and future. Thanks for your soon to be answer. |

What is the big deal? Maybe Alex got it wrong or maybe they changed their minds....but at the end of the day....did you buy prophecies only because you could get the extra storage?...No I didn't think so. I like having a perk for owning both games and linking them...I also hope there are more perks when nightfall comes out. I hope it encourages more people to buy and link them all so that anet make more money and are incentivised to maintain and improve our game world indefinitely....Come on people bigger picture.

More than likely, the origional plan was to have it free, so that is what Alex (who works for NCSoft in Europe, not ArenaNet in America) told to the community. At some point before it was released, the devs decided that it should match the way origional storage was purchased. Seeing as how it is only 50g, they probably figured that it is basically free, and that it would be better to match the origional for continuity reasons. The origional announcement on guildwars.com said that it would only be available to Factions owners, so if you have a link to someone saying that it would be available to other people, I'd love to see it. |

trade improvements when they come in will be for everyone NOW LOOK CLOSE AT THE NEXT PART STORAGE NOT *EXPANDED STORAGE* BUT SIMPLY *STORAGE* AND THE XENAUI WAS GIVEN TO ALL (and everybody has storage and factions people have more items to store) and according to the owner additional storage is content to be released with chapters while gane engine/mechanics/etc are free upgrades an example of which is the free upgrade from direct x 8 to direct x 9 to make things look better EDIT note Alex says Factions is a major CONTENT release? Um, in case you didn't notice, there is no where in that where it says something like "and these free updates will be availible to anyone that has any chapter."
If you didn't notice, it just says "Features such as improved trade mechanisms, storage and more are free updates. They'll be added to the game, at no cost, as soon as the individual features are ready." Was it free? Yes, to anyone that has factions. Was it added to the game? Yes. Unless you can find other proof, then so far there is no proof that alex ever said that the whole community would get these free updates, and therefore, gaile did not "cut the grass under her collegue and change" anything (and BTW, she can't even if she tried. She is a community relations manager or something and just brings information to or from the community. Wait, I just relized a big part of her jobs is reading forums like this one and replying! No fair! I'm already doing that in my free time so why can't I get paid for that?! lol j/k ) Hmm it also says improved trade systems though... That might mean only people with certain chapters can access the auction house (I am assuming they will make one eventually since we need it so bad) which might get a lot of people angry... Oh well, I know I'm going to buy any future GW chapters (unless they somehow completely change everything I know and love about GW...) so I'll be fine with it. |

You are seeing the tips of the iceberg GC187. If they do that with the expanded storage (you forgot the and more) then they will do that with the auction house. And that is no fair. There will be ppl that will not buy the next chapter and they will be feeling like left overs from a previously finished party. and when you feel like that you just stop playing and there you go you lose 14 customers. and maybe more has it's on the internet. Please them with those "CORE" feature so they buy the next and next and next chapters.
Oh yeah something that could be a nice feature ... make a "teaser" town for ppl that doesn't have the game. So they would want it more. Thanks for your comments but I still want comments from Gaile, Andrew(that is Gaile substitute atm) or Alex. Clearing things up for us the mass that give you your butter to feed your self and children. |

it would be impossible to trade with two tiers of people so it wont happen anyway the backlash involved would cost them much more than the simpler coding of giving it to all the OWNER stated that IMPROVED TRADING WHICH MAY NOT BE AN AUCTION HOUSE would be for all chapters period as a CORE MECHANIC of the game |

hasn't this debate already been pissed all over these forums?
The major problem is that Anet/NCsoft has too much open communication because picky people who think they are entitled to everything will read in those things that they want to see/get. I actually see nothing wrong with implementing storage for all chapeters for fee and expanded storgae implemented for certain chapters. Where I do see a problem is with the way the situation was handled on Anet's end. I don't like when their Community relations manager (a PR occupation?) insults and argues with the community members. They seem to have forgotten that they are dealing with a bunch of whiny children with a entitlement complex. On the other hand, the community has largely forgotten that if the company doesn't make money, the servers will shut down. In order for them to make money, they must entice people to buy subsequent chapters of the game. But again, I was displeased with the way it was handled... |
